What To Do When Things Don't Go As Planned

Good day lovely people!

Today I wanted to share with you a bit of advice, based on recent experience.

As you might know, me and my little family went on holiday to Italy, to visit family and to relax.

Me and my husband planned a small road trip to some close-by towns just to do some sightseeing, take nice pictures, eat good food and have a good time.

So we pack all necessary things in the morning, we take baby with us and we go...

And after 30 minutes of baby crying we are on our way back... sadly.

Both me and my husband were quite sad and disappointed.. We really wanted to go on this road trip, but of course baby comes first (she is only 3 and 1/2 months and is our first baby... so we are still trying to understand what to do sometimes).

We soon realised that it was not yet the right time for us to leave for an adventure like this, specially because it was extremely hot that day.

The first few minutes of our journey back home we both were silent and a bit tense.

But as we kept driving back, and baby fell asleep in the car eventually, we started sharing our thoughts and decided that we shouldn't feel like we failed to do what we would have loved to, but instead understand that things can go in a different direction from what we plan.

So what do we do if things don't go our way?

We adjust!

We made a new plan. We didn't want our day to be lost and we still wanted to go for a walk hand in hand.

Yes, we chose a closer destination - we ended up in a shopping centre, but hey.. we still had our walk, our talk, our moment together and we agreed to go on a road trip later on, when is not too hot and when baby is a bit older.

So, just because things are going all wrong at first, doesn't mean things are lost forever.

My advice is:
- don't lose your temper over something you can't control
- have a quiet moment to collect your thoughts before talking about what went wrong
- make adjustments to your original plan, or change it completely if you need - it's ok to do so
- understand what went wrong and if it was something you could have avoided
- keep your dream plan for a new season - just because it didn't happen once, doesn't mean you have to forget about it completely

If you are anything like me, all these are easier said than done, but slowly you will see that sometimes letting things go and don't stress ourselves over it will make your day better than expected.

Focus on what you have already achieved and cherish the small things.

Hope this was helpful for you as it was for me - for letting it out and to remind myself to follow my own advice.

Oh, by the way, we still went to the beach, visited some new places and had great food but we are keeping our road trip planned for next summer ðŸ˜‰
